Tandem Sky is the indie dance/electronica project from Stockholm based producer and DJ Tiger Stripes, who with Tandem Sky lead singer Magnus Carlson has covered one of their all time favourite songs, ‘Solid Air’ by legendary Scottish singer and songwriter John Martyn.

The Main mix is a belter of a club tune, perfectly crafted in every way making the song sound like it was made to dance to all those years ago, complete with electric guitars and a pounding kick drum, and with the trademark melodic themes of tiger Stripes giving maximum impact to that amazing vocal that effortlessly cuts through the air.

The Stripped Mix is a promo only exclusive, more stripped back version available on this promo only.

The remix is by Chicago legend Tevo Howard of Beautiful Granville Records, who stays true to the original but adds a whole new angle to it with his lush deep techno groove taking it even deeper and further underground, creating an essential anthem for the summer.

Tandem Sky is the indie dance/electronica project from Stockholm based producer and DJ Tiger Stripes, known for his releases on Get Physical, Drumcode, Audiomatique, Liebe Detail and many more. He enlisted Swedish singer Magnus Carlson for some vocal sessions early on in this project, but soon the duo discovered a mutual love for all things psychedelic and indie cool, more songs were recorded together and Tandem Sky was born and is now a fully live band working with some of the most prominent and highly regarded live musicians in the business.

Tandem Sky is signed to Warner Music and their debut album was released in May 2013, complete with cutting edge artwork from legendary NYC artist/graphic designer Rob Carmichael, aka Seen, who notably designed artwork for Animal Collective and Atlas Sound.

The remixes have all been commissioned by the band themselves. The mixes brilliantly show off the many sides of their musical heritage and are sure to whet the appetites of even the pickiest listener out there.

Eklektisch label boss Edu Imbernon kicks off by serving up some the most cutting edge tech house to be found today, making room for the mind blowing wall of sound from Sonic Boom, once part of the cult band “Spacemen 3”, who takes on the classic Detroit techno anthem ‘Down’ by Aaron Carl.

The deliciously techy deep house remixes of ‘Victoria’, by legendary Hacienda DJ Jon Dasilva in his new production partnership with Jonas Nilsson, are perfect mood setters and techno legend Jesper Dahlback makes a rare appearance with his stripped take on ‘New Dawn’ finishing off the package in style with a mix that despite being around a while has a timeless quality rarely heard today.

‘Magic’ is a cover of Olivia Newton-John’s disco classic from 1980, which comes alive again at the hands of a trio of well experienced house-makers, Lenny Fontana, Gabi Newman and Cevin Fisher.

Lenny Fontana is one of the most celebrated producers in  house music, with a discography a mile long reaching as far back as the early 90’s, to the golden days of house when he and his contemporaries, the likes of MAW, Roger Sanchez and Danny Tenaglia were the Kings of US House.

His early releases on Kult, Public Demand and Waako were the beginning of a long and lustrous career that has seen him release music on what seems like every key house label there ever was, FFRR, Positiva, Defected, Nite Grooves, Azuli, Slip N Slide, Strictly Rhythm and Cr2 to name a few..

The collaboration with Spanish resident Gabi Newman has proved a very interesting one. Gabi himself has had numerous remixes and tracks released, Toolroom, Vendetta, Absolutely, and Ian Carey’s Gfab labels have all trusted his remix skills, and this is the second time they appear on Slip N Slide together.  Their remix of Conga Squad’s ‘Discofried’ was well received by tastemakers worldwide.

Cevin Fisher is…. Well, he’s Cevin Fisher, legendary NYC producer and DJ with some of the biggest clubland anthems under his belt  going back to the early 90’s..

What we hear on this track though is Cevin Fisher 2.0, with a hard-as-nails, techno-fied, bassdriven monster-sound, ready to bust any speaker you are willing to risk. After some time of writing and performing only vocals for other producers, Like Layo & Bushwacka!, Coyu, Tiger Stripes, Seamus Haji, Erick Morillo Harry Choo Choo Romero, Jose Nunez and Supernova, he’s back at the controls and you can really feel the energy he puts into it, simply outstanding!

The album features some of the most highly respected names in underground electronic music, house and techno. Each piece of music is specially made for this soundtrack, which sees the producers go beyond their normal musical range, out of their comfort zone and into uncharted territory.

Imagine starting with the soundtrack and thereafter constructing your movie, following the changes in the soundtrack, making each piece of music invoke feelings that makes up the story. Music is the greatest medium of all when it comes to suggesting the tone and mood of a scene. The mood could change in an instant following a change in the music, so contrary to the normal way of adding music to film, what if you could start with the music, and then shoot the film?

With artists including Umek, Djuma Soundsystem, Tiger Stripes, diskJokke, Alain Ho, King Britt and Darko Esser we see the music twist and turn in the most unexpected way and we can only imagine what goes on parallel with the music. We can assume the listening experience is much dependent on the listener’s point of view, making the soundtrack interactive in the sense that you can change the imagery that goes with the music as you like, for every listen if you like, and make up your own story to the soundtrack as you go along.
